FAQs
Q. What is a good instrument?
A. A very dangerous topic. The beauty is in the eyes of the owner. A piano which holds pitch, is mechanically stable, feels good and sounds good to the owner is simply a good piano, at least to the owner. If it does not satisfy the owner, then that instrument is not a good piano to the owner. The instrument could be new, used, spinet or concert grand, it must meet the basic requirements of the owner. Basic essentials for quality are: flawless plate; tight tuning pins; adequate mechanics of soundboard, treble and bass bridges, sound action; even tonal quality, consistent to the touch, aesthetically acceptable. All these items should be thoroughly discussed with a technician.
Q. How often should I tune?
A. Once, or preferably twice per year after the seasons change. Ideally, try to have your piano tuned at the same time each year. The average home gets a piano tuned twice annually; however, it is not uncommon for a performer or recording artist to have his/her piano tuned more than weekly.
Q. My piano is "really old." Should I have it rebuilt or should I buy new?
A. Call us at 609-629-7577.
Q. Why should I rebuild an older piano?
A. Often the quality of an older, maintained instrument is superior to that of a new instrument.
